Revision to Current Fertility Policies, Guidance on Pause in Fertility Services Due to Covid-19

On Thursday 13 August 2020, North Central London (NCL) Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wrote to all practices in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington regarding three important matters related to its fertility policies:

  • revision of each borough’s fertility policy to expand the age criteria for fertility treatment referral (up from 42nd birthday to 43rd birthday)
  • the pause in fertility services due to Covid-19
  • plans for an Assisted Reproductive Technologies Review to determine recommendations that will feed into the development of a single NCL policy.

NCL practice staff are asked to read the letter (available here). The revised fertility policy for Islington has now been published on the Islington GP Website, and supersedes the old policy. The letter includes details of the exact changes to the borough policies.

The CCG will share more information on the review planned shortly and is keen to seek input from NCL practice staff.

If practices have any questions or require any further advice or information on these matters, please contact the CCG
