Whittington Phlebotomy Service Update: Holloway Community Clinic Opens

North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group has agreed a number of new community hubs to increase phlebotomy capacity. They will be provided by Whittington Health. The first clinic, at Holloway Community Health Centre, went live on 29 June and provides an additional 1,500 appointments a week for Haringey and Islington residents. Additional sites will be opened for other boroughs over the next few weeks.

All appointments at the sites must be pre-booked. Due to social distancing requirements, patients who turn up without an appointment, cannot be seen. Patients are frustrated at being turned away, which is causing some tension. Thus all bookings must be initiated by the practice via e-RS. The patient should be given their password and UBRN to book their own appointment online or by telephone.

If there are no appointments available DO NOT use the “Defer to Provider” button instead make an Appointment Request (see how to book guide).

All Islington GP practices have been emailed today about the changes.
